At the point of extraction, natural gas is a mixture hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon components in varying concentrations. The exact composition varies between wellheads which means that both initial processing and precise quality measurements of natural gas are crucial to avoid damage to equipment and ensure consistent calorific value.
